this one is weak - freakin' shell - a little too wistful - the others speak to man (as in gender neutral human - although i'm guessing men are the culprits) and his relation to the world (amongst other things) - detritus, existence, pipes (he-he)

This seems like it would be great accompanied by Deep Purple's "Child in Time". But only if you record yourself singing over it, drunk, with three tongue rings, wearing claustraphobically tight pleather pants.

a) I wish I could watch this on a really big screen. b) I wish I had something to smoke while watching this. c) I think at some point I need to record a soundtrack for this. It's fabulous.

Hi Shea,
This is the Compass Rose staff. We'd like you to (please!) submit these three photos to us for our consideration. We really like the third one but we can't make up our minds and not all of us are here today.
Thanks,
Compass Rose Staff

Ever seen Sophie Calle's series called The Blind? She asked people blind from birth to describe the most beautiful thing they know, then she made a photographic piece based on their reply. The descriptive text is included with her visual interpretation. Some answers are rather amazing, being what we would consider wholly in the visual realm (if I remember correctly, and I saw the exhibit over 10 years ago, one person said a painting of a sailboat hanging on his wall was the most beautiful thing he knows).

As for me, I tried to answer your question Most Beautiful Thing? and drew a blank at first - partly because I get hampered by the most-est, my brain won't let the most-est part coincide with the "say the first thing that comes to mind" part - they are contradictory requests! but the first thing answer was an emotional state arising from dream to wakefulness that I've experienced a handful of times, a very loving state--and the second thing that came to mind was a luxurious kiss.

I came across your interesting site looking for information about the Provisional Table coming up in Cambridge. Perhaps we will end up enjoying a meal together there. Perhaps we won't even know it.
Happy (?) hermitting......marla
